Product Warranty, Returns, and Legal

APG Limited (trading as Bionic Electric Bikes) offers the following limited warranties for all products branded “Vlaken” sold by Bionic Electric Bikes.

All our electric scooters come with a warranty of 24 months or 2,000 kilometers RTB (Return to Base), whichever is less, unless explicitly stated otherwise. RTB means that the buyer is responsible for the return of the goods to us, and we will repair or replace faulty products and cover the cost of returning the item to the customer. In cases where the return cost is substantial, we will assist in arranging shipping and invoice the customer accordingly. During the second 12-month period (months 13 to 24), Bionic Electric Bikes will offer labor and parts at a 50% discount. The same coverage exclusions apply as in the initial 12-month warranty.

Our warranties cover all aspects of the product except normal wear and tear, consumables, or issues arising from typical usage. Examples of exclusions include brake pads, flat tires, headset/wheel bearings, marks and scuffs, and the expected degradation of battery range due to aging, estimated at around 15% per year with proper battery care.

Refunds will only be issued if a replacement is unavailable or if a repair is deemed impossible at the sole discretion of Bionic Electric Bikes. Warranties are non-transferable without express written permission from an authorized representative of Bionic Electric Bikes. Shipping fees are non-refundable. Unauthorized repairs, incorrect assembly, misuse, abuse, or commercial use voids the warranty.

In the event of a product fault, if the purchaser resides far from our service partners, we will attempt to diagnose and provide replacement parts and repair instructions remotely. Alternatively, we will endeavor to find a local service agent to address the issue.

Electric Scooters are not guaranteed to be waterproof. While some may have IP ratings indicating water resistance, our warranties do not cover water damage, irrespective of the stated rating.

Bionic Electric Bikes adheres to the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. In cases where the CGA provides consumer rights conflicting with our warranty terms, the CGA rights prevail. All terms of Bionic Electric Bikes agreements are severable, and all other terms remain enforceable.

Warranty Claim and Returns Procedure

All warranties must be registered on the website or through a physical registration card sent to APG Ltd, with the purchase invoice number provided for validation. Proof of purchase date is required for warranty claims.

If purchased from a dealer or partner, contact APG Ltd initially for warranty claims. If purchased directly from APG Ltd, contact us in New Zealand via email or website form submission.

You may be asked to provide photographic evidence of the defect and/or serial numbers of defective parts. An APG Ltd representative may inspect the scooter to assess the warranty claim.

If your claim is accepted, a warranty approval number will be issued. Defective products or components will be repaired or replaced at no charge, at the discretion of APG Ltd ( for first year only – second year at 50% discount).

Owner Responsibility for Safe Use

As the owner, it is your responsibility to ensure that any person using the scooter is physically capable and follows safety recommendations. If using the scooter in a workplace, ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation. APG Ltd disclaims responsibility for any injury or property damage resulting from improper or unsafe use.

Use Cases

APG Ltd disclaims responsibility for any illegal use of the scooter. Owners are responsible for ensuring the legality of use in any circumstance or use case. Legislative changes or redefinitions of vehicle classes are beyond the control of APG Ltd.

Maximum Liability

APG Ltd’s maximum liability for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from defects or use of our products will not exceed the price of the product causing the issue.
